Nozipozi

About

Hello

I’m Nora, the founder of Nozipozi. During my years at university I  fell in love with knitting and decided, that’s what I want to. At the same time I rediscovered my beloved childhood hobby: beading. Mainly these two and their combination define Nozipozi. I live and create locally in Budapest, Hungary.

Features

Nozipozi’s most caracteristic feature are the vivid and bold colour combinations. Here are the most vibrant pieces (buti f you are looking strong enough, you may find one or two restraind ones too 😉 Amongst the product there are both hand and machine knitted clothes, beaded jewellry and clothes from the combination of knitting and beading. From every kind of pieces there is only just a few made, so that you won’t bump into someone else on the street who has the same :D. The goal is, that the unique and special pieces give many happy moments to it’s owner.

Ethics

It is impossible to be 100% ethical. One of my professor once said to me: ‘If something has already been made that can’t be sustainable’. However, it is important to do as much as we can to reduce the negative effects of the fashion industry both socially and environmentally.

Here is what I do so far:

  • I have always been against wasting, which has not changed in my design thinking either. My goal is to produce the less possible waste. In order to do that, both macine and hand knitted clothes are knittied to form, which means, that there is only the minimum waste of yarn. (Which I always collect for further projects in the future).
  • In some cases materials are purchased second-hand (they have never been used before). It only means that I buy them from someone else who doesn’t need them anymore.
  • I’m trying to use as natural materials as I can. (With second-hand materials it’s not always easy to figure out the components.)
  • I pay a fair wage to myself (and will to possible employees in the future)
  • I make everything myself locally. (Hungary)

Pricing

You may find the prices high (at least compared to fast fashion stores). However handmade takes time, fair wage takes money. Here is a little guide how I price my products:

Material costs + hourly rate of working hours + 15-20% (for additional work like taking and editing photos, website maintenance, marketing, packing orders, etc.)
